Artist Statement

I feel it might be useful to address briefly the title for this show. A straightforward interpretation implies that the work on view is about the picture framing trade. However, the desig- nated words can also be singled out for their individual meaning and put back together to shape perhaps a more expansive definition that would be about picture (pictorial art) and framing (composing something or creating a structure). As it is, I like the term and the range of possible inferences. Nevertheless, without such a description, I would simply declare that the pictures presented in this exhibit continue with the tradition of Western Painting.
